At EFAS, we understand how important it is to create a safe workplace environment, no matter what industry you are working in. That is why our team of mobile safety experts have put together some simple workplace safety awareness tips to help you and your employees stay safe in the workplace.

1. Be Aware of Your Surroundings

Since every workplace, whether you are working in an office or in a factory, offers a range of inherent dangers, it is important to make sure that you remain aware of your surroundings at all times. Being familiar with the task you are working on and the space you are working in will allow you to be more aware of any potential hazards, helping both you and your co-workers avoid unnecessary or dangerous situations.

2. Stay Up to Date with New Safety Procedures

While your employer is responsible for providing the proper safety training and procedures that will be used in the workplace, it is your responsibility to ensure that you understand all new safety procedures and that you are implementing them properly at all times. If you do not understand a safety procedure, make sure that you ask questions.

3. Keep Emergency Exits Clear

Emergency exits should be kept clear at all times. This means never placing anything in front of an emergency exit, even if it is only for a few minutes. Pathways to equipment emergency shutoffs should also be kept clear at all times in case something needs to be powered down immediately.

4. Report Unsafe Conditions

If you notice any unsafe working conditions, it is important to report them to your boss or supervisor immediately to keep yourself and other employees safe. Once the problem has been reported, your company will be able to work toward finding a solution to prevent the unsafe working condition from occurring again in the future.

5. Always Wear Personal Protective Equipment

Always make sure to wear the proper personal protective equipment for your workplace environment. Whether it is something as small as earplugs or an entire chemical suit, wearing the proper personal protective equipment will help you perform your job properly, while also keeping you safe from injury.
