Occupational First Aid (OFA) Level 2

In BC, workplace first aid attendants must have a certificate that’s recognized by WorkSafeBC. There are three levels of occupational first aid. The level of first aid services required for a workplace depends on the number of workers, distance to medical aid, and industry hazard/risk rating.

Occupational First Aid (OFA) Level 2 is an intermediate level first aid training and certification course designed for urban first aid attendants. This course is typically needed for larger low-risk workplaces or higher risk workplaces within 20 minutes surface travel time to a hospital.

This course is 36 hours (1 week) in length.

Students will learn to:

  • provide injured workers with a level of care within the scope of the First Aid Attendant’s training, and
  • document and refer workers for medical treatment with injuries considered to be serious or beyond the scope of the attendant’s training.

This course will equip you with necessary first aid skills identified in WorkSafeBC’s guidelines.

Successful candidates will receive the WorkSafeBC Occupational First Aid Level 2 digital certificate card, which is valid for 3 years.

  • Preparing for and responding to emergencies
  • Facial injuries including burns
  • Choking
  • CPR
  • Electric shock
  • Falls
  • Fractures
  • Abdominal & chest injuries
  • Head injuries
  • Head Trauma
  • Internal and external bleeding
  • Chest pain/Angina
  • Stroke
